Examples
A manager for a landscape supply company wants to calculate how many hours it will take to move a stockpile of topsoil from point A to point B using a front-end loader.
Begin by starting the stopwatch at the beginning of the task, and tapping "+" for Counter 1 for each bucket of topsoil moved by the front-end loader.
After several buckets have been moved, the display under Counter 1 will display the number of buckets moved per minute, hour, and day. Press the "Stop" button to pause the stopwatch.
Divide the total amount of topsoil to be moved (the size of the pile in cubic yards) by the size of the bucket the front-end loader is using, which will equal the total buckets needed to move the entire pile. Divide the total buckets needed by the rate per hour displayed on the screen under Counter 1. The result will be the approximate number of hours needed to move the entire pile.
A telemarketing representative wants to be sure he can reach his quota of 300 outbound calls per day.
Begin by starting the stopwatch. Tap the "+" for Counter 1 for outbound call made.
After a few calls, the display under Counter 1 will display the number of calls made per minute, hour, and day. Press the "Stop" button to pause the stopwatch.
Multiply the remaining hours in the work day by the rate per hour displayed on the screen under Counter 1. The result will be the approximate number of calls that can be made that day if the representative continues at the current rate.
